New data from Upwork shows that freelancing can be a lucrative choice, particularly for freelancers who have honed a unique skillset. A look at the top 20 skills from last year show many of the highest paid skills on Upwork are technical—but there are also non-technical skills that made the cut.

These skills are at the top of the list, according to average hourly rate:
- Network analysis ($200)
- Computer vision ($145)
- Chef.io ($140)
- Neural networks ($140)
- Firmware engineering ($130)
