You may have worked with a freelancer who specializes in content writing, data entry, or mobile development, but many freelancers have backgrounds and areas of expertise that may surprise you. And new skills are constantly emerging.

Half of the fastest-growing skills on the latest Upwork Skills Index are new to the list. The top five fastest-growing skills are Bitcoin, Amazon DynamoDB, React native, robotics, and Go development. While some of those may sound like logical skills to search for online, others may seem a bit more far-fetched.

Here are four skills you likely didn’t know you could find a freelancer on Upwork for—and when you might need to leverage these specialized skills:

Bitcoin and blockchain

Keeping up with this new technology can consume your entire day, especially when thinking about how blockchain will impact your business and whether it’s worth adopting as a payment channel. Gartner believes blockchain will transform and improve entire industries. Most companies are still figuring out how to navigate blockchain technology, and those that get a handle on the technology during the early days will be that much more ready for full adoption and transformation.

Whether your company is accepting blockchain payments or just keeping an eye on the trends, a blockchain specialist could provide you with updates and suggestions about when you might want to consider blockchain. Take Chris Barber, a blockchain business analyst on Upwork. He’s working on projects to use blockchain technology payment systems for vacation rentals. This is just the start.

3D rigging and modeling

You may know of 3D modeling, but what is 3D rigging? If you’re looking to create an animated 3D model, first you’ll need a 3D rigging specialist to create a skeleton so your object can move. Most 3D model specialists are also skilled at 3D rigging, so you can simply hire one expert for the entire process. 3D rigging is no. 7 on the list of fastest-growing skills, and talent is constantly updating their skills to know how to use the latest technologies.

Corporate law

There are basic legal requirements that all companies need to abide by, as well as laws that apply to specific sizes of companies or industries. To help make sure your bases are covered, you may want to address legal concerns on a regular basis with a freelance lawyer. For instance, a lawyer can help you write your terms and conditions. Or if you’re working with different types of talent—full-time employees, part-time contractors, or freelancers—a lawyer that specializes in worker classification can help keep you compliant with federal and state employment law.

E-commerce specialist

Whether you already have an online site set up or you’re looking for help to scale your operations, an e-commerce expert can come in handy. If your growing business wants to sell products on Amazon and needs help to manage inventory, orders, and policies, consider an Amazon Webstore specialist.

These are just a small sample of the many skills you can find online to get more work done. According to a recent study, 57.3 million Americans freelanced in the past year, so chances are that there’s a freelancer for whatever project you have at hand.
