Asana work tracking, artificial intelligence, and rapid prototyping topped Upwork’s latest Skills Index, a list of the 20 fastest-growing skills on Upwork for the first quarter of 2017.
“In the next three to four years, more than 30 percent of the workforce’s essential skills will be new,” said Stephane Kasriel, Upwork CEO.
“Whereas traditional employees take time to retrain, the companies that need emerging skills can access them quickly by hiring freelancers and are doing so increasingly—55 percent of companies that utilized freelancers in 2016 expect to hire more in 2017,” he said.
Each of the freelance skills on the top 20 list experienced more than 140 percent year-over-year growth. While tech skills dominate the list, Asana—an app that helps teams track tasks and manage projects—is the first non-technical skill to ever come out on top.
